Attitude of the Overcoming Believer

1 Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?
2 He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.

NARRATIVE
The Spirit of God is the power of God released to humanity to manifest His image and likeness. Without the Holy Spirit, no genuine spiritual achievement is possible. Obedience to God’s Word becomes difficult, faith grows weak, and godly virtues remain unattainable—no matter how sincere one’s efforts may be. Scripture clearly states: “But without faith it is impossible to please Him” (Hebrews 11:6). True faith, however, is sustained and energized by the Holy Spirit.
An overcoming believer embraces the Person of the Holy Spirit—His presence, power, and anointing—and depends on Him continually for victory. Such a believer endures hardship like a good soldier of Christ, understanding that attitude in the face of adversity determines the outcome. The overcoming believer possesses the mind of Christ and reflects the Father’s nature through humility, obedience, and the fruit of the Spirit. Even amid storms, such a believer remains faithful to God’s calling and sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
Our anchor Scripture reveals the defining character of the believer who overcomes. He walks uprightly, practices righteousness, speaks truth from the heart, refrains from backbiting, avoids harming others, and refuses to reproach his neighbour. He rejects the ways of the ungodly, honors those who fear the Lord, keeps his word even when it is costly, and conducts himself honestly—especially in financial dealings.
When a believer acts contrary to God’s standards, the storms of life are often intensified. Disobedience and ignorance empower the enemy. This is why Scripture urges us to pursue divine wisdom. “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding” (Proverbs 4:7). We cannot align ourselves with the enemy’s ways and still expect victory or testimony.
REFLECTIONS
God’s standard is unchanging and sure. Every believer must align with God’s righteous standards in order to overcome the storms of life. God is just and shows no favoritism. Therefore, beloved, examine your life sincerely and make the necessary adjustments—it is time for your testimony to emerge.
